KCL
King’s College London is a world-leading centre for neuroscience and mental health research and teaching, with over 1,000 staff and students studying the brain. We host the only National Institute for Health Research-funded Biomedical Research Centre for Mental Health and two Medical Research Council centres dedicated to neuroscience. The results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, announced 18 December 2014, confirmed King’s as a world leading Research University. King’s is ranked 6th position nationally in the ‘power’ ranking where ‘Power’ takes into account both the quality and the quantity of research activity meaning that it is regarded as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. KCL leads the largest catchment of PD population and is one of only 14 Parkinson Foundation international centres of excellence in the world. Kings hosts the one of the only dedicated palliative care institute in the world at the Cicely Saunders Institute with a multi-professional Palliative Care Team working in an advisory capacity across King’s to provide •evidence-based symptom control, •complex psychosocial care, •liaison with other specialist palliative care services (hospital and community) and •support for provision of individualised end of life care for all patients with advanced disease
